Born on 1983 September 27 to Sri kalamandalam Gopinath and Kalamandalam Sreedevi Gopinath. After completing his schooling from Kerala Kalamandam he has gone to Chembai Music College and completed his graduation in BA Mridangam with 1st rank. He has completed his post graduation in MA Mridhangam from RLV College of fine arts with 1st rank .He has worked as a guest lecturer at Kerala Kalamandalam, Kaladi Sree Sankara College and RLV Music College ,SRV college of Music and Fine Arts etc. Kalamandalam Kiran Gopinath is an eminent Mridhangist and performing as an accompanying artist with concerts and several classical dance forms like bharathanatyam, mohiniyattam and kuchupudi etc for last 20 years.

He has performed for several famous festivals in Kerala like Soorya Festival, Nisagandhi Festival, Thalam Festival,Mudra Festival, Bharatham Festival, Nila festival etc and performed out of the country like USA , Canada ,France, UAE etc. He is a B grade artist in All India Radio. Currently he is working as a guest lecturer at Kalady Sree Sankara University of Sanskrit.
