Kalainath started learning the percussion instrument Mridangam at the age of 3 under the guidance of his guru Sunil S. Paniker. He did his higher studies under the tutelage of B. Harikumar (Staff Artist, All India Radio Tiruchirapalli).Kalainath has accompanied many leading artists in concerts, including Anantha Padmanabhan (Veena artist), Sreevalsan J. Menon(Vocal artist),U.P. Raju (Mandolin artist), Amit Nadik (Flute), Stephen Devasya (Keyboard) and many other prominent musicians. He also has experience playing for many dance and fusion programs.

Kalainath graduated as Bachelor of Arts in Mridangam from RLV college,

Tripunithura in 2009. He is a B grade artist with All India Radio. Kalainath has

also worked as a recording artist in the South Indian Film Industry.
