Right from the Vedic ages Veena has been acclaimed as the king of the instruments and is believed to be the only instrument capable of producing music closest to the vocal rendering. It has been glorified to such an extent that it is deemed an instrument of the Gods and in fact an incarnation of the God. From the time when Vedas were created, a Veena player has been known to be the master of Sruthis and Veena was an instrument of choice when chanting “ Veda- Mantras” especially in Sama-Veda.

Beginner level
In this course, students will be exposed to the fundamentals of Carnatic music and Veena fingering techniques. The course is made up of 5 modules that focuses on the teaching the students to play the fundamentals of carnatic music upto the Geetham and Swarajathis level on the veena. On the completion of this course, students will be ready to play very simple carnatic songs (Krithis) on the veena, thereby making them eligible for the Intermediate level, where they will be learning varnams and krithis.

Intermediate level
This course is focussed on improving the Veena fingering techniques and the Carnatic music depth of the students. This is achieved by training the students to play Aadhi thala and Ata thala varnams in different speeds and Intermediate level Krithis on the veena. On completion of this course, the students will be able to handle the instrument with a higher level of confidence and will be ready to play Intermediate level songs on the Veena.

Advanced level
This course provides in depth Carnatic veena training that includes playing complex varnams in different speeds, advanced level krithis (including 1 Pancharathna Krithi) and techniques to achieve dexterity over the instrument. This course also focuses on Kalpana swara training and Raaga Aalapana training. On completion of this course, students will be able to handle the instrument with great ease and play complex Carnatic music krithis with simple kalpana swaras, neravals and raga aalapanas.
